Shortly after the events of 9/11,  all of the French Quarter and part of Riverside where closed due to low occupancy.

Resorts>> Animal Kingdom Lodge:
The first Animal Kingdom area resort, the Lodge, is expected to open in 2001. Planned as a 1300 room premium resort, guests will be able to view the wildlife on an African savannah from their balconies. The resort does open on April 16, 2001

Magic Kingdom>> Adventureland:
The Magic Carpets of Aladdin soared to life on May 23, 2001 - Filled with the wonders of genies, flying carpets, magic lamps, Middle East Mystique and music. And watch out for those water-spewing camels - they spit!

EPCOT>> Future World>> Spaceship Earth:

Walt Disney World Resort:
Starting on December 5, 2001, The 100 Years of Magic at Walt Disney World honors the 100th Anniversary of Walt Disney's birth with a 15-month long celebration including all-new parades at all four parks, a new 12-story tall icon of the Sorcerer Mickey hat and new special merchandise including Disney's Magical Moments pins.

Recreation>> River Country:
Ceased operations on November 2, 2001 although the 'official' closing did not come until January 20, 2005.

Resorts>> Port Orleans>> French Quarter:
Effective November 3rd, 2001 this resort is closing, all guest with prior reservations are being booked into other 'Moderate' Resorts. No word on if this is just rehab or is going to be permanent.
