- Disney's
first water park adventure, River Country, opened in June 1976 on the shores
of Bay lake at Fort Wilderness. Disney's version of "The Ole Swimmin' Hole"
offers two themed water slides in addition to the sandy beach that surrounds
Bay Cove with its old-fashioned rope swings.
Recreation: Discovery Island - On April
1, 1976 Treasure Island reopened as Discovery Island, after being closed since
the beginning of the year for the addition of a walk-through aviary, exotic
flora and fauna, and a snack bar.
Magic Kingdom: 50 Millionth guest is
welcomed.
