- The film Magic Carpet 'Round the World replaced the original
presentation, America the Beautiful, in 1974.
Resorts: Villas & Townhouses - This collection
of townhouses and treehouse-style villas, first opened in 1974. Constructed
on Lake Buena Vista, not far from the Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village (later
known as Disney Village Marketplace, and now as Downtown Disney), most of
these accommodations are now part of the Disney Institute.
Resorts: Fort Wilderness - Pioneer Hall
opened in 1974, providing several restaurant/cafeteria options for those not
wishing to cook over the campfire. It is also the venue for the Hoop-Dee-Doo
Musical Revue dinner show, consistently one of the most popular attractions
at Walt Disney World.
Magic Kingdom: Tomorrowland-StarJets
- The StarJets opened in Tomorrowland on November 28, 1974, serving as the
central focal point of this land. The two-passenger jets can be lowered or
raised--to a height of 80 feet--by the occupants.
Recreation: Treasure Island - On April
7, 1974 the now developed and newly renamed Treasure Island opened. The theme
was that of a pirate's hideaway, with buried treasure and shipwrecks.
